Senator pleads guilty after bathroom incident
Oh Idaho, how do I continue to defend you against Oregonian nay-sayers when your senators do things like this?
CNN Reports:
"Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho plead guilty to disorderly conduct after being apprehended June 11 by a plainclothes police officer investigating complaints of lewd behavior in an airport men's room. According to the arrest report, Craig lingered outside an airport restroom stall where a plainclothes police officer was sitting, then entered the stall next door and blocked the door with his luggage. Craig tapped his right foot, which the officer said he recognized "as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. The report alleges Craig then touched the officer's foot with his foot and the senator "proceeded to swipe his hand under the stall divider several times.
At that point, the officer said he put his police identification down by the floor so Craig could see it and informed the senator that he was under arrest, before any sexual contact took place.
Idaho's senior senator is married with three grown children and nine grandchildren. In 1982, Craig denied rumors that he was under investigation as part of a federal probe into allegations that lawmakers on Capitol Hill had sexual relationships with congressional pages, saying the "false allegations" made him "mad as hell."
He has supported a federal constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, telling his colleagues that it was "important for us to stand up now and protect traditional marriage, which is under attack by a few unelected judges and litigious activists."
Craig has also opposed expanding the federal hate crimes law to cover offenses motivated by anti-gay bias and, in 1996, voted against a bill that would have outlawed employment discrimination based on sexual orientation, which failed by a single vote in the Senate."
Way to go Larry. Representin'. Way to go.

Is he a douche? Probably. But I don't think even an anti-gay rights congressman should be arrested for tapping his feet and waving his hand, even if he was intending to solicit sex. Shouldn't there at least be some kind of more aggressive overture?
Lindsey---read the police report! And he pleaded guilty! And he didn't tell anyone.
Yeah, that's what I hear. Don't get me wrong, this is all pretty entertaining, but I actually kind of think that you should be able to say, "Hey, want to have sex?" and not be arrested until you actually start getting down on your knees or something.
You lawyers! Always innocent before proven guilty!
I want to know what comes AFTER the hand signal and footsie playing...this entire story would be more credible if the officer had let it go to the next step...what a coward!
Yeah - it would have been a way better story if Senator Craig had gotten caught with his pants down 6 inches deep! Check out the Daily Show last week...hi-larious!!! It's online!
